                The Government of Assam launched a Mission for Caste Certificates. The Mission was called Mission Bhumiputra. Mission Bhumiputra has been launched by Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on 1st August 2022. The Mission has been launched under the Department of Welfare of Plain Tribes and Backward Classes. Under this Mission, applicants can submit their applications for caste certificates through digitally. This is a major step by the government to reduce the hassle of getting caste certificates in Assam and the manual system of issuing caste certificates stopped. Under this mission, applicants can submit applications for SC Certificate, Scheduled Tribe (Hill) Certificate, Scheduled Tribe (Plain) Certificate and OBC/MOBC Certificate through Mission Bhumiputra portal.

Eligibility: -

  • The applicant must be an Indian citizen as per the constitution of India.
  • Applicant must be a permanent resident of Assam.
  • Applicant must belong to any one of the following categories – SC, ST (Hills), ST (Plains) or OBC/ MOBC.
Period time of issuing the certificate: - 30 days, if the inquiry is required, and extendable by another 15 days in exceptional cases with due justification. 


Online process of caste certificate applies through new portal


The Interested applicants must visit the official web portal of Mission Bhumiputra and submit their application for caste certificate. Applicants can complete their caste certificate application process by following the steps mentioned below.

  • Click on Caste Certificate Online Apply link.
  • Now you have to register by clicking on the New Account option.
  • After successful registration, login using your Username & Password.
  • After successful login, you will have to click on New Application option.
  • Fill up the application form with all required information carefully.
  • After that, you have to upload the scanned copy of your documents.
  • Finally, you will get the option to submit your application.
  • After successful submission, you will get an Acknowledgment Copy - save the same for future reference.

 

What are the documents required to apply for caste certificate in Assam?

            The applicants must prepare the following documents before applying for caste certificate because these documents need to be uploaded on the portal to successfully complete the online application process.

  • Applicant’s Photo.
  • Proof of Date of Birth (Birth Certificate/ Aadhaar Card/ PAN/ Admit Card issued by any recognized Board of Applicant)
  • Proof of Address (Permanent Resident Certificate/ Aadhaar Card/ EPIC/Land Document/ Electricity Bill/ Ration Card of Applicant/Parent)
  • Caste Certificate of Father OR Recommendation of authorize caste/ tribe/community organization notified by State Govt.
  • Any other document (Voter List, Affidavit, Existing Caste Certificate, etc.)
  • Scanned Copy of the Application Form.


Note:-   By uploading her/his father’s caste certificate, an applicant can increase the possibility of the application approved. And if you are facing problem in submitting the online application, you can use Firefox browser.
